Kashmiri Pandits revive tradition with Shoba Yatra on Ram Navami in Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 17 (KNS): In an atmosphere charged with religious fervor and joyous celebration, Kashmiri Pandits in Srinagar orchestrated a magnificent Shoba Yatra to honor the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, marking a significant resurgence of their cultural heritage in the valley.

Embarking from the revered Kathleshwar temple in Tankipora, a jubilant procession, adorned with traditional attire and led by community leaders, traversed through the bustling streets of Habbakadal, Ganpathyar, Barbar Shah, Regal Chowk, Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street, and Jahangir Chowk. Accompanied by a chorus of "Hare Rama Hare Rama" chants, the procession exuded a palpable sense of spiritual fervor and unity.


Security forces maintained a vigilant presence along the route, ensuring the smooth passage of the yatra. Despite the significant turnout, the event transpired peacefully, underscoring the communal harmony prevailing in the region.


Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, a Kashmiri Pandit participant remarked that the Shoba Yatra marked the culmination of the nine-day Ram Navami festival, dedicated to celebrating the birth of Lord Rama.
The event garnered widespread support from local residents, transcending religious boundaries.


Muslims joined in the festivities, extending gestures of solidarity to their Kashmiri Pandit brethren, reaffirming the spirit of communal harmony prevalent in Kashmir.


Culminating in a public gathering, religious leaders delivered sermons elucidating the significance of Ram Navami and advocating for interfaith understanding.


Special prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the valley, encapsulating the collective aspirations of the community.
