Srinagar, Nov 23 (KNS):Braving toughest times, a Kashmir girl has been trying her best to promote the art in the valley for years and are day by day getting good experience in it.

A journey from the engineering graduation to 3D artist, Safura Hameed found herself attracted to art, from calligraphy to sketching to portraits, and paintings but, because of the studies, she often put her passion in the back seat, until her passion followed her through the dark and toughest times of her life.

Hailing From Srinagar, the 23 year old Safura used to do calligraphy with a ball point pen during school, drawn only by a natural hobby, and no professional help and no bigger plans.

Starting with A4 sheets and normal ink, and writing Allah's name, to Qur'anic verses, and mastering the art, she made sure to hold onto her passion, despite her academics keeping her busy.

Pertinently, this self taught artist refused to stop there, and once college ended, she invested all her time in her art and moved from 2D to 3D.

She says that in all these years, calligraphy helped her deal with anxiety and brought comfort to her life, and all the while she never imagined to start a page or sell her calligraphy.

"When i see people gifting my work to their family and friends, with smile on their faces, it adds more to my joy," she said, adding that she came up with the page @__naayaab_ to share her work with the world, and in less than a year has already starting taking orders.

Her target every time is to add a few ideas together and produce something different, and all the effort she puts into her art reflects through the details of her work.

Moreover, she thinks she has probably inherited this art from her father, "the way he used to write urdu and decorated words" made her do to the same; and from a ball point pen, to ink and qalam to the 3D art, Safura is only carrying the legacy forward.(KNS)
