Joint Director Extension Sheep Husbandry Department and team visit Gurez, take stock of livestock health regarding outbreak of FMD

Bandipora 28 June (KNS): A team of Sheep Husbandry Department Kashmir comprising of Joint Director Extension, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Bandipora, Jr. Epidemiologist DSHK, SDO Gurez and Technical Officer Bandipora visited different Alpine Pastures and villages of Tulail and Gurez Area. 

 

As per the statement issued to Kashmir News, during visit the team interacted with Sheep Breeders and PRI's, and took stock of livestock health regarding outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). 

 

The team conducted Post-mortem of some decea sed animals and took samples from oral lesions of affected one's in viral transport medium for further confirmatory laboratory diagnosis. Besides mass awareness was given to sheep breeders for taking preventive measures to control spread of disease. 

 

The vaccine and supportive medicine were issued to teams constituted on spot and directions given to all teams for conducting strategic Ring Vaccination to unaffected animals and treatment with necessary medicine to affected ones.(KNS)
