JKEF holds executive council meet, committee formed to formulate action plan in view of Press Club elections

Srinagar, Nov 13 (KNS): The first meeting of the Executive Council of the Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum was held today (Saturday) after the organizational election of the Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum and the election of a new discipline.

The meeting was convened by the President of the Forum, Muhammad Aslam Bhat.

The meeting was attended by most of the members of the Executive Council of the Forum including General Secretary Arshad Rasool, Vice President Chasfida Shah, Secretary Muhammad Shafi, Treasurer Farzana Mumtaz, Chief Spokesperson Rashid Rahil and Mehraj uddin.

According to the spokesperson of the forum, the meeting was chaired by the president of the forum Muhammad Aslam Bhat.

Apart from many important issues, organizational issues were also discussed in the meeting.The meeting was also called for increasing the membership to make the Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum stronger,organized and functional.

After seeking the views of the members in the meeting, a committee was formed to participate in the forthcoming elections of the Press Club, which will also liaise with various forums and associations and will be empowered to take decisions regarding the elections.

The issues and problems faced by the journalistic community were also discussed in the meeting and it was decided to hold a meeting with the concerned authorities in this regard.

At the same time, emphasis was laid on the implementation of procedures for the welfare of women journalists.

Forum President Muhammad Aslam Butt said that a committee would also be formed to establish discipline in the forum.

At the end of the meeting, prayers were offered in favor of the late Syed Shujaat Bukhari, the founder of the forum. (KNS)
