JKCSF concerned over situation of fruit industry, deadlock on pensioners gratuity, arrears GP release, growing social evils

Srinagar September 21 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has taken stock of the prevailing socio-economic situation in Jammu and Kashmir and has expressed concern over the current situation of fruit industry, deadlock of GP fund bills of employees, payment bills of construction contractors and the emerging social evils in the society.

In a statement to Kashmir News Service (KNS),  JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said that Society convened an important meeting at its central office at Gofjibagh Srinagar and discussed the issues at length. They said that the prevailing fall down of fruit industry was a matter of concern for one and all as the industry is the backbone of JK's economy. Chairman Wani urged upon the stakeholders to research for the causes of the fall down. Wani urged the scientists of SKUAST to aware the fruit growers and sellors about the quality maintain of the fruit here in the case of apples.

JKCSF delegates discussed the deadlock of pending GPF bills and construction contractible payment bills which, they said were lying pending now for more than 6 to 9 months.

" What use of an employees GPF when he cant spend it on the occasion of emergency suppose in a medical treatment, a marriage of kin, a construction or a school fee of kin" wani questioned. Wani showed serious concern on the delay of arears and graduaty of retiree employed who are waiting  for their own money and demanded immediate redressal of concerns of these retire employees.

The Society said the construction payment bills of contractors too were pending in treasuries for payment and contractors and inturn the poor labourers suffered.

JKCSF has reteriated its move of conducting seminars and nook and corner of JK for tje eradication of social evils generating from corruption and drug abuse.

The Society has urged upon the authorities to add curriculum to New Education Policy that has provisions for moral classes and character building.

The Society has asked media not to give hype to unfortunate and shameful  episodes taking place in society.
