JKAACL Marks 150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’ with Grand Cultural Event in Srinagar

 SRINAGAR, MARCH 27 (KNS): The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Thursday organised a grand cultural programme at Tagore Hall here as part of a special nationwide campaign commemorating 150 years of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’.

 
The event, held under the ongoing phase of the campaign being observed from March 23 to 30, saw enthusiastic participation from over 200 students, alongside artists and civil society members, reaffirming the song’s enduring legacy in India’s freedom movement and national consciousness.
 
The programme commenced with a soulful rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ by student artists from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), followed by the screening of a short documentary on the song’s historical significance.
 
A vibrant cultural showcase by the Sonzal Art & Cultural Organisation, a powerful theatrical performance by the artists of Kalidas Theatre Srinagar, and a thematic calligraphy session added artistic depth to the proceedings.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
The event was attended by Additional Secretary, Kashmir, JKAACL, Ideel Saleem; Joint Director Information Kashmir, Syed Shanawaz Bukhari; and veteran theatre personality Ayash Arif, among other officers and dignitaries.
 
Speaking on the occasion, officials noted that the initiative aims to invoke a deep sense of patriotism and reconnect the younger generation with the revolutionary spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’. The campaign features a series of activities, including mass singing, exhibitions, and cultural events, being held across the country.
 
The programme concluded with a message of cultural pride and unity, highlighting the timeless relevance of the national song in inspiring national spirit. (KNS).
