Srinagar, June 22 (KNS): The Irrigation and Flood Control department Kashmir on Wednesday said that the river Jhelum has crossed flood declaration mark at Sangam and has asked the people living in the area to remain vigilant.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the downstream gauge at Ram Munshibagh is also expected to rise.

Incessant rains over the las couple of days in the Kashmir Valley and in some parts of Jammu division have triggered fears of floods, while the water level in the Jhelum and tributaries has been continuously increasing.  

“The Flood Declaration mark of 21 feet at Sangam has been crossed. The habitation residing along the River Jhelum in South and Central Kashmir are requested to remain vigilant,” I&FC department informed. 

It also said that subsequently, the downstream gauge at Ram Munshibagh is expected to rise. (KNS)
