Handwara, June 05 (KNS): Handwara police along with department of Geology and Mining seized a JCB and a tipper for illegal mining of minerals from Maratgam area and Bangus road.
According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), yesterday Police Station Handwara seized (01) JCB and (01) tipper which were engaged in illicit mining of minerals from Maratgam area and Bangus Road.
The statement reads that additionally, in the past one week, similar action under applicable rules has been initiated against 19 tippers, 05 JCBs and a tractor in Langate and Handwara areas.
“Legal action under the provisions of MMDR (Mines & Minerals Development and Regulation) Act has been initiated in this regard.”
It added that all members of the public are urged in public interest to adhere to the law and the terms and conditions of their permits, wherever applicable, and to not destroy the ecology of their areas by engaging in illicit mining of minerals. (KNS)
