Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party senior leader and former minister, Javaid Mustafa Mir on Saturday endorsed the statement of CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami about sporadic shutdown of internet in parts of Sringar and several other areas of the Kashmir Valley.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mir said that the statement by M Y Tarigami is welcome and everybody should come forward to condemn such acts like shutting down internet sporadically in parts of the Kashmir valley.

He expressed disappointment over the frequent internet shutdown in the parts of Srinagar in these uncertain times when every activity has been switched to online mode.

“People are suffering due to curbs on internet frequently especially the businessmen, doctors, journalists and students who have to attend online classes due to shutdown of educational instutions from more than two years from now,” he said.

He said that he welcomes the statement of M Y Tarigami that the curbs on internet should be removed without any further delay.

“People have already suffered huge losses be it be education or business since 2019 communication blockade and it is high time that administration should restore internet,” he said.

“Digital India mission cannot move forward without the basic internet rights being given to the people of Kashmir,” he said.

He said that all parties should come forward and keep politics aside to condemn such acts as it is the need of the hour because internet is the fundamental right of every citizen especially the student community who suffer a lot in the absence of this facility.

Earlier, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami had said the decision of J&K administration to shut down internet sporadically in several parts of Srinagar and other areas of the Valley has once again brought back painful memories of communication blockade imposed in Kashmir on August 5, 2019 which was fully lifted after a year and half.
