J&K Tourism department organises First-ever bird festival

Srinagar, Oct 06 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir department of tourism in collaboration with Sanctuary Nature Foundation held a first-ever bird festival with a series of events. 

"Photo Gallery exhibition, Painting session, MOU Signing, and Logo Unveiling was held at Pahalgam Convention Center," an spokesman said, adding that the students from various schools in Pahalgam participated in the artwork and painting apart from that they enjoyed learning about the different bird species. 

He said that the MOU was signed between the Secretary of Tourism and the Founder of Sanctuary Nature Foundation. "The Logo of the bird fest was unveiled in presence of the team members of SNF, Local school students, Local stakeholders, Pahalgam Development Authority, and various other aligned departments viz; department of forest, department of wildlife protection and forest protection force," he added. 

He futher said that the event was appreciated by the Chief Guest janab Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Department of Tourism, Jammu, and Kashmir The mementos were distributed among the guests, participants, and volunteers as a token of love and appreciation.

"The J&K Bird Festival, 2022 is the first of its kind to link local biodiversity with citizens by organising activities like Run for Birds, nature photography, capacity building, painting, photo galleries and workshops. We will have a series of bird walks at Pahalgam, Pampore, Shankaracharya, and various other bird-rich places around Srinagar," the spokesman added. (KNS)
