J&K saw 1.27 Cr remarkable tourists this year: LG Manoj Sinha

 Srinagar, July 01 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, on Tuesday that this year, a remarkable 1.27 Crore tourists have visited the region, with expectations to surpass last year's record.

He said this while addressing a gathering at Charar-e-Shareef in Central Kashmir's Budgam district. LG Sinha praised the revered saint, Hazrat Shiekh-ul-Alam Sheikh Noorudin Noorani (RA), emphasizing that he is known beyond Kashmir and is an epitome of Sufism.

LG Sinha also said that there is peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir, with businesses, schools, and colleges functioning normally throughout the year.
He stressed that peace is essential for development and reminisced about a time when uncertainty caused hardships for local businesses.

The LG revealed his commitment to upgrading infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of tourists. He emphasized setting up tourist facilities across the Union Territory to provide the best amenities to guests. LG Sinha expressed optimism that as more tourists visit Kashmir, it will boost the local economy, benefiting shopkeepers, taxi drivers, hotel owners, and shikara operators.

LG Sinha also addressed upcoming developments, mentioning the establishment of a full-fledged center for Kashmir University in Budgam district. He assured the public that the district hospital in Budgam will offer comprehensive facilities to serve the people effectively.

While speaking about his approach to governance, the LG stated that he would not make hollow promises. He emphasized his commitment to deliver on his commitments rather than making unrealistic claims. LG Sinha proudly mentioned that 30,000 youths have already secured jobs through a transparent selection process, and further recruitment opportunities will begin in September this year.

The event was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bhiduri, ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, Secretary Tourism Syed Abid Rashid, and other government officials.
