J&K Police Chief Reviews Republic Day Security, Vows Zero Tolerance Against Threats in Shopian

 Shopian, January 21: The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat (IPS), chaired a detailed security review meeting at the District Police Office (DPO) in Shopian on Wednesday. The meeting focused on assessing the current security environment and evaluating operational readiness for the upcoming Republic Day-2026 celebrations.

 
The high-level meeting saw the participation of senior police officials, including Special DGP Coordination S.J.M. Gillani (IPS), IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi (IPS), DIG South Kashmir Range Javaid Iqbal Matoo (IPS), and SSP Shopian Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary (JKPS), along with other gazetted officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) of the district.
 
During the comprehensive review, DGP Prabhat examined various aspects of law and order management, counter-terrorism preparedness, crime control measures, and specific security plans for Republic Day events. Addressing the officers, the DGP issued clear instructions to deal firmly and decisively with any anti-national elements that threaten public safety and peace. He reiterated a policy of zero tolerance towards activities detrimental to national security, emphasizing the need for sustained operations against such threats.
 
Concurrently, DGP Prabhat urged the police force to uphold a people-friendly policing approach. He called on officers to continue their work with dedication, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law, thereby ensuring a secure and stable environment for the citizens of Shopian.
