Srinagar, Sep 12 (KNS): Higher Education Department annually engages faculty for degree colleges across UT of J&K on temporary basis, as per the requirements of degree Colleges across various disciplines. This annual process is undertaken to meet the specific academic requirements for various disciplines in these institutions.
In alignment with the UT’s uniform academic calendar, which commences from August onwards of every year, the department initiated the engagement process well on time for the current session to ensure adequate academic coverage.
As per the guidelines issued by the Higher education Department, Notifications were issued parallelly vide No: WCG/NP/2024/467 Dated:29/06/2024 and Vide No: NDK/414 Dated:06/07/24 for Jammu and Kashmir Divisions respectively by Nodal Principals inviting applications from eligible candidates in both the divisions of UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
The applications were invited in online mode for various disciplines across UT of J&K and 7862 applications were received for Kashmir Division colleges and 6581applications were received for Jammu Division colleges.
After scrutiny of applications merit lists were displayed on Nodal office portal fotr respective divisions and tentatively a total 2529 candidates were shortlisted across the UT based on the consolidated requirements of the colleges.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWith 1397 shortlisted candidates for Kashmir division Colleges and 1132 candidates for Jammu division Colleges tentatively.
Shortlisted candidates of both the divisions were regularly updated and are privy to the process and know their tentative allotted institution.
The Model Code of Conduct was announced on 16/08/2024 which mandated a prior permission for issuance of engagement letter to the allotted temporary faculty on academic arrangement.
To uphold electoral guidelines, the Higher Education Department forwarded request to the Election Commission to obtain permission for the temporary faculty engagements. Subsequently the department promptly replied to the clarifications sought by Election Commission of India and is awaiting the necessary clearance to enable the shortlisted candidates to join their respective colleges.
Once the clearance is received from Election Commission , the department will immediately notify all shortlisted applicants, allowing them to commence their teaching duties without delay.
The Higher Education Department remains steadfast in its commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for students and is confident that the temporary faculty engagements will commence very soon to fulfil the need and enhance the academic capacity of degree colleges across the UT. (KNS)
