Jammu-Srinagar National Highway closed again

Srinager, Feb 01 (KNS): The 270-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been closed for vehicular traffic following a landslide on Wednesday, officials said here.


A traffic offical told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that a major landslide occurred on National Highway-44 in Banihal town of Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district. The portion of the highway in Banihal's Rampadi area has been blocked due to the landslide, he said.

A video of the blocked road surfaced online. Huge boulders could be seen on the highway in Rampadi. The traffic movement was affected due to the landslide. Authorities have deployed men and machinery to clear the road.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ramban asked the people to follow Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police advisory."A major slide has occurred near Rampadi, Banihal, on National Highway-44. People are advised to follow J&K Traffic Police advisory," the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban said. (KNS)
