Jammu cluster University organises Ek Sham Shaheedon Ke Naam

Jammu August 17 (KNS):  A Cultural Programme Ek Sham Shaheedon ke Naam was organised by the Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu to celebrate 75 years of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof Umesh Rai,  Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. The programme started with the auspicious lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana. All the constituent colleges and schools of Cluster University participated in the Cultural evening and showcased their patriotic fervor through diverse and heartwrenching melodies.  

The event was organised under the patronage of Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu who welcomed the gathering and apprised them that Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is an intensive, countrywide campaign that focuses on citizen participation and encourages small changes at the local level to add up to significant national gains. The theme of Independence Day for the current year is 'Nation First, Always First'. He added that Amrit Mahotsav means Nectar of grand celebration which signifies the 75 years of India's independence from British Raj after nearly two hundred years.The lengthy struggle for freedom resulted in the birth of the largest democracy in the world.

An enchanting Cultural programme was presented by the students of Constituent colleges and PG Schools of Cluster University where in they paid tribute to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives for the Nation. The Cultural Programme was a mesmerizing mix of mime, patriotic songs, medley, ghazal and solo performances. Sh. Romalo ji, a well-known local folk singer and performer of National and International repute along with his daughter, Saras Bharti, an alumni of GCW of Cluster university of Jammu and his troupe of talented artists enticed the audience with his impeccable rendition of local folklore and dance adding patriotic fervor to the performance.

Prof Umesh Rai  Chief Guest of the event appreciated the efforts of Cluster University of Jammu in organizing such a relevant and meaningful program to celebrate 75 years of Independence. He exhorted that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a tribute to our freedom fighters and freedom movement . The celebration of 75 Years of India’s Independence is a sacrosanct effort to honor the sacrifices of our courageous leaders and freedom fighters, who gave their all for the freedom and integrity of the nation and the countrymen. The main motive  is that every citizen of India should know about the history of freedom struggle.

Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu, thanked the audience and participants for their active participation. She also expressed her gratitude to the constituent colleges and schools of Constituent Colleges for their active participation in the momentous celebration  and urged the students to imbibe the valour and spirit of our freedom fighters and jawans who sacrificed their lives for the well being of their countrymen.  

Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar CLUJ, Controller Examination, Deans, Principals and Coordinators of NCC, NSS wings faculty and staff of different Constituent Colleges & Schools graced the occasion. The event was supervised by the Cultural Coordinators, Associate Dean and Assistant Deans of CLUJ.

Ms. Geetika and Ms. Sania  Bali,  Students of CLUJ compered the proceedings of the programme.

The programme concluded with the recital of National Anthem by the participants and guests.(KNS)
