Srinagar, Mar 1 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday condemned the Israeli strikes on Iran, describing them as the result of the "nefarious agendas" of what she termed "war criminals."
Addressing a press conference, the PDP President, as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), said, "The recent developments in Iran are the result of the nefarious agendas of Israelis and a war criminal like Benjamin Netanyahu, who is carrying out such heinous acts. It is really unfortunate and sad, and we completely condemn this."
Her remarks came as protests erupted in parts of Kashmir against the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Mehbooba also expressed her support for the protest called by Kashmir's cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, appreciating the peaceful nature of the demonstrations held today. Mirwaiz had condemned the attacks, warning that the lack of international accountability was pushing the Middle East toward a perilous escalation.
The PDP president also expressed deep concern about students and residents stuck in Iran. "It is an unfortunate situation for the families back home. We are hopeful that the Government of India will take immediate steps to ensure those students are safe and will be brought back home at the earliest," she stated.
The protests in Kashmir saw demonstrators carrying pictures of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and chanting pro-Iran slogans, reflecting solidarity with the Iranian nation. (KNS)
