Tehran, June 28 (KNS): Iran has strongly condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump for his recent remarks about the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday called Trump’s comments “disrespectful and unacceptable” after the former U.S. President claimed he had saved Khamenei from being assassinated.
“If President Trump truly wants a deal, he must stop insulting our Supreme Leader and hurting the sentiments of millions of his followers,” Araghchi said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In a sharp response, Araghchi added, “The proud Iranian people, who proved that Israel had no choice but to run to ‘Daddy’ for protection from our missiles, will not tolerate threats and insults.”
His statement comes after Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that he had prevented Israel and the U.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelS. military from killing Khamenei, claiming:
> “I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH… and he does not even need to thank me!”
Trump also said he had been considering easing sanctions on Iran but stopped the effort after what he called an angry and ungrateful response from Tehran.
The tensions come amid renewed military escalations. The U.S. recently joined Israel in airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities during a conflict that began on June 13. However, the effectiveness of those strikes remains unclear.
Meanwhile, Iran has rejected Trump’s claim that nuclear negotiations between the two countries will resume next week.
“We have no intention of restarting talks under pressure or threats,” an Iranian official stated.(KNS)
