President Donald Trump has announced that he is “recommending” a 50% tariff on goods imported from the European Union to the United States.
In a post on social media on Friday, Trump expressed frustration over stalled negotiations with EU representatives.
“Our discussions with them are going nowhere!” he wrote.
This development marks a significant escalation in Trump’s ongoing trade dispute with the European Union, which currently faces a 10% tariff on goods entering the U.S.
In addition, the former president renewed his warning to Apple, threatening a 25% import tax on iPhones not manufactured in the United States.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect iPhones sold in the United States to be manufactured and built in the United States, not in India or anyplace else,” Trump said.
“If that is not the case, a tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the United States.”
Since returning to the White House, President Trump has imposed and threatened various tariffs against multiple countries, viewing them as measures to boost U.S. manufacturing and safeguard American jobs from foreign competition.
