Inquiry ordered into recent fire incident at Jammu secretariat

Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday ordered holding of inquiry into the recent fire incident in Civil Secretariat Jammu, and Principal Secretary, IRS, Alok Kumar was appointed as the Inquiry Officer.


As per the order issued by the general administration department, Mr. Alok Kumar, IRS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Estates Department is hereby appointed as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the fire incident on 28.12.2022, in Civil Secretariat, Jammu.

It said that the Inquiry Officer shall submit a report to the General Administration Department within a period of seven (07) days clearly establishing the cause of occurrence of the fire incident. "Cause of delay in controlling/extinguishing the fire. Whether the fire safety audit of the building had been carried out, as ordered in terms of Government Order No. 592-JK(GAD) of 2022 dated 21.05.2022, or otherwise," it added 

"Whether the fire extinguishing equipment available on the premises was in working condition. The Inquiry Officer shall fix the responsibility for failure in activating response at various levels to control the fire in a timely
manner," it added.(KNS).
