Injured three days ago after unexplored shell goes off at Handwara, elderly woman succumbs at Sgr

Srinagar, Sept 18 (KNS): An elderly woman, who was injured in a blast that took place after an unexplored shell and grenade, stored in a scrap, went off at Tarathpora village of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district three days ago, succumbed to her injuries at Srinagar hospital on Saturday.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that Janti Begum (70) wife of Abdul Razaq succumbed to her injuries at the Srinagar hospital today evening.

Notably, a minor girl had died while six other family members were injured in a blast that took place after an unexplored shell and grenade, stored in a scrap material in a house, went off on Thursday evening.

Janti Begum, who succumbed today evening at the Srinagar hospital, was among the six injured family members who were shifted to hospital for treatment.

The deceased minor girl was identified as Shabnum, 17, daughter of Ghulam Mohammad Wani of Ramhall Tarathpora. 

Police had said that further investigation into the matter was going on to ascertain as to how the blast took place. (KNS)
