Srinagar, April 5 (KNS); Teams of the officials of Information & Public Relations Department on Monday visited newspaper offices and checked their documents and infrastructure related to publication and printing of the newspapers and also the authenticity of manpower available with the newspapers.

Information & Public Relation Department visited several newspaper offices and during inspection checked their records related to
printing and publication and also the infrastructure available there.

They also discussed several issues with Chief Editors of Newspapers Who were already intimated about the inspections well in advance.

Letters about the inspection were, according to many Editors, mailed by the Information and Public Relations Department mailed to them well in advance.

Meanwhile the Information and Public Relations Department has extend the last date for submitting applications and documents under the new J&K media
policy for fresh empanelment of newspaper till April 20.

Speaking to KNS, Joint Director Information & Public Relations Haris Handoo said, "The exercise is being carried out to check office infrastructure and staff employed by the newspapers & publications. This would enable the department to support genuine publications who are running their newspapers  professionally". (KNS)
