Srinagar May, 20 (KNS): Army on Friday claimed to have killed a militant while thwarting an attempt to infiltrate the Line of Control in Karnah area of ??North Kashmir's Kupwara district.

Sources said that the militants tried to infiltrate the Darshan sector of Karnah on Friday morning, after which the diligent soldiers stationed there detected the infiltration attempt using effective Surveillance grid.

A fierce exchange of fire took place between the two sides when infiltrators were challenged by the soldiers, as a result of which one terrorist was killed, they said.

The body of the slain militant has been recovered with 2 AK-47 rifles, two magazines including pistols, 10 packets of drugs, mobile phones and food items also recovered from his possession, they said.

They also said that the operation in the area is going on and an alert has been issued on the border after the said incident in the area. (KNS)
