Increase in Tabacco, Drug menace Heath Department, GDC Pattan Jointly Organised World No Tobacco Day

 
Pattan 31 May (KNS):Increase in Tabacco and Drug addiction among the young generation of Kashmir the Health Block Pattan in collaboration with Government Degree college pattan organised a day long Seminar on World No Tabacco Day in College campus here at pattan in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday.

As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) The program was to commemorate World No Tobacco Day, Health department Pattan in Collaboration the NSS Units and Red Ribbon Club of the college organized a day long programme in the college. 

The programme started the recitation of the holy verses of the Quran which was followed by the recitation of Naat-e-shareef. 

After formally welcoming the guests from the BMO and administration, Prof Safiya Khalil, in-charge principal of the college inaugurated the programme and  stressed upon the need and importance of organizing such programmes to disseminate the consequences of consumption of tobacco products. 

She opined that the students should be made aware of the tobacco addiction so that they refrain themselves from such evil practices. 

Further she asserted that the tobacco consumption spreads like wild fire among the youth because of the varied reasons including psychological and career related stress and peer pressures. Dr Bajan Kour ( District Helath Officer, Baramulla) thanked the college administration for taking an initiative in uprooting the menace called tobacoo from our society. 

She was of the opinion that tobacco consumption leads of life threatening diseases like cancer. Mr. Mohammad Shafi Parra also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon the youth to remain focused on the career opportunities available. Mr. Syed Mubashir Tawheed (RNTCP) gave a statistical analysis of the tobacco consumption in the valley. Dr Mastoora (BMO Pattan) was guest of honor on the occasion.  Ms. Rehana Mushtaq, Ms. Rehana(MLHP), were also present on the occasion. 

The program was co-ordinated by Ms. Ruksana Murtaza, Mr. Mohmmad Shafi (Counselors) SDH Pattan.

The students of the college also gave PowerPoint presentation and thereby debated on the varied aspects of tobacco. Prof. Baby Bilquees Shair and Dr. Nazir Ahmad Kutey acted as jury members to judge the students participants. Vote of thanks was presented Dr Mastoora(BMO, Pattan). 

Prof Sajad Sarvar and Prof. Nayeem Ahmad Shah were the rapporteurs of the programme.The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr Zahoor Ahmad Mir. Technical support to the event was rendered by mr. Shahrukh Ahmad Matoo, Abdul Majeed and Mr. Sajad Naquash (KNS)
