Sopore, Jun 22 (KNS) : Incessant rains from last two days cause flood like situations in Tarzoo village of Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla district, while locals accuse Irrigation and Flood control department for their negligence.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said, that heavy rainfall caused a flood like situation in Tarzua village some 4 km away from Sopore town.

Rains submerged the areas like Dag Mohalla, Kunder Mohalla, Amberpura and Alibagh of Tarzua due to the breach of Ningli nallah, it added.

Locals while talking to KNS accuse Irrigation and Flood control (I&FC) department's negligence for the current flood like situation. They said, that they have repeatedly brought the issue in notice of higher ups several times but on ground nothing has been done.

"Locals at Haritar and Hygam who have illegally occupied the wetland have damaged the flood channel at Alibagh for their vested interests," they said.

Residents however, appealed concerned authorities again to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, Irfan Hafeez Lone, DDC Sangrama visited the area and took review of the current situation.

Notably, officials at the MeT department said, there is a possibility of significant improvement in weather from this afternoon and the water level will possibly receed after the weather conditions improve.(KNS)
