Bandipora, July 21 (KNS): In a first, several villages in Bandipora district have been electrified as these villages were without electricity since Independence Day.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the villages which have been electrified for the first time include Check Pati Kudara, Dongipathi Kudra, Chuntimulla, Khan Mohalla Arin, Turkpora, Check Mantrigam and Upper Malangam.

He said that the villages have been electrified under the centrally sponsored Saubhagya Scheme.

Meanwhile, villagers expressed joy and happiness after seeing their villages electrified for the first time since independence.

The villages expressed gratitude to LG led administration and district administration for fulfilling their long pending demand.

They said that earlier, they would rely on Deeli (resin wood), as it was the only source of light in their homes.

“Power supply has brought much-needed relief to us. Now we will also enjoy the facility of cellphones, television and other useful electrical gadgets and our children will have a bright future now,” they said. (KNS)
