In a continuous outreach to tribals, Dept of Horticulture held an awareness camp at Bandipora

Srinagar, Nov 22 (KNS): The department of Horticulture Kashmir on Monday held an awareness/training cam at Ketsun Benlipora (Aloosa) a remote tribal area of District Bandipora. This was 3rd such camp organized by Department to reach out to the tribal population. Director General Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat(JKAS) was the Chief Guest of the function. He was accompanied by Deputy Director Horticulture Kashmir, Chief Horticulture Officer, Bandipora and other Officers of the Department. Block Development Chairperson Aloosa along with other PRIs were also present in the camp.

Besides Department of Horticulture other line Departments viz. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Lead Bank & Employment participated in the camp. The camp was attended by a large number of progressive orchardists, particularly those belonging to Tribal papulation.

The main purpose of the training/awareness camp was to aware the tribal and far-flung papulation about the different departmental Schemes. 

During the camp the representative of line departments highlighted their achievements and appraised the participants about the different developmental schemes/initiatives taken by UT Government for the betterment of Tribal Community.

Addressing the gathering, Director General Horticulture, elaborated in detail about the incentives available under the various central and UT sponsored schemes of the department viz. MIDH, and, SMAM, PMKSY, CAPEX etc., and urged the tribal farmers to come forward and avail the benefits under these schemes. On spot instructions were given to the Chief Horticulture Officer to give due share in all the developmental schemes to tribal farmers particularly Veri-Compost Units, Bore wells etc. He further directed him to issue at least one custom hiring unit in the area under relevant scheme.

At the end DG thanked all the participants and said more such camps will be held in the area. Director General then distributed Packing Shed/machinery authorizations among the farmers. (KNS)
