Says Azad’s remarks have hurt sentiments of people of J&K; ‘Congress party has surrendered before injustice, Until rights of people are not restored, NC will continue its struggle’

Jammu, Nov 29 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah on Monday said that if the Congress is not able to protect their own legacy then what will they do for others.

Talking to reporters at Jammu, Omar, as per Kashmir News Service (KNS), said tha more than National Conference, article 370 has been the legacy of Congress Party as it was granted to Jammu and Kashmir only by the efforts of great leader of Congress Jawaharlal Nehru. “If Congress party is not able to protect their own legacy, then what will they do for the nation,” he said.

Talking about the remarks of Ghulam Nabi Azad that it is useless to talk about article 370 as it has been gone and would never be restored, Omar said that he felt disappointed by reading the news that a senior leader of Congress and former CM of J&K has stated that it is of no use to talk about restoration of article 370.

"I respect Azad Sahab as he has served as CM of J&K in the past but his remarks have hurt the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

He said that why is it useless to talk about restoration of article 370 as everything in J&K depends on article 370. “The future of our children, the employment of youth, the land and the dignity of the people depends on article 370. So, how can it be useless,” Omar questioned.

He said that the reality is that the Congress party is not ready to carry out this struggle to restore the dignity and rights of their people.

“They have surrendered and have accepted defeat. We hoped that all political parties will unitedly speak for the rights of the people of J&K but unfortunately they have resorted to silence. We believe that we have put strong facts and arguments before the court about abrogation of article 370 and 35A,” he said.

He said that but Congress party have already accepted defeat and without decision of the court, they have surrendered before injustice.

Omar said that National Conference will fight alone in the struggle to restore the dignity and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Until the rights of the people are not restored, NC will continue its struggle,” he added. (KNS)
