Hurriyat reciprocated “abysmally” to New Delhi’s dialogue offer: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Feb 18 (KNS): PDP President and former Chief Minister J&K, Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday reiterated her claim that she had convinced top leadership of the country for dialogue and brought them on table but unfortunately Hurriyat reciprocated “abysmally” to the offer.

“I wrote to Hurriyat to talk to New Delhi and put forth your argument, but unfortunately they reciprocated abysmally. They didn’t give appropriate response to the offer. They shut their doors which was against the ethics and tradition of Kashmiriyat,” Mehbooba as per KNS said while speaking to party workers in Srinagar here.

While recalling her efforts in resolving issues, Mehbooba Mufti said his party – Peoples Democratic Party – offered healing touch to the wounds of Kashmiris and brought them out of the uncertain situation prevailed in the past. “I scrapped 12000 FIRs registered against youth and brought country’s top leadership on table for talks with Hurriyat. Besides I ensured peaceful life for border residents while executing one month ceasefire on LoC,” Mehbooba said.

She said today PDP is being criticized for forming coalition with BJP and added, “I want reiterate that it was Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who caged the bear of BJP and tied their hands from doing mischief.

“In 2014 elections though we had 3 seats in Parliament but Jammu region was fully taken over by BJP that prompted us to form coalition with them. We took three months whether to form government with BJP or not? It was prudence of Late Mufti sahib who formed the Government with BJP and tied their hands from resorting to mischief about Jammu and Kashmir” she said. (KNS)
