Huge quantity of illicit timber seized in Mawar, Handwara

Handwara, May 27 (KNS): A team from the Jammu and Kashmir Police police station Qalamabad and the Forest Department Langate seized illicit timber on Sunday in Putwari Nowgam Qalamabad village in Mawar area of North Kashmir's Kupwara district.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that acting on a tip-off about illegal timber for construction in the Mawar Range, the Jammu and Kashmir Police Team Qalamabad Handwara and the Forest Department Langate Team conducted a joint operation and seized a large quantity of timber in the forests of Putwari Nowgam village.

He further stated that the culprits will be identified soon and action will be taken against them.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelA complaint has been registered at the Jammu and Kashmir Police Station Qalamabad, and further investigation has been initiated.

"The seized timber includes 7 logs of Dry Cedar, measuring 60 cft, which have been deposited at the Qalamabad police station," the official added.

The official also mentioned that they have lodged a complaint with the concerned police station for further action under the law.

Meanwhile, the residents of the area have praised the District police Handwara action against those involved in this illegal activity (KNS).
