Srinagar, Dec 31 (KNS): Several students from different parts of the Kashmir Valley who are preparing for different competitive exams like NEET, JEE and are taking coaching classes mostly in Parreypora and Rajbagh areas of Srinagar have alleged that landlords and hostel owners have been charging hefty amounts from them as rent.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), they alleged that a student is being forced to pay 8000 to 10000 per month as rent which somehow includes food & accommodation.

They alleged that to recover more and more revenue these hostels owners and landlords accommodate 2 to 3 students in a small room and collect 24,000 to 30,000 per month.

Mehraj-ud din, a student from north Kashmir's Baramulla district, who is preparing for NEET 2022 alleged that they are 3 students in a single room and are paying 27,000 per a month as rent.

He said that they collectively pay this rent, which includes breakfast, lunch, tea in the evening and dinner.

He said that this is a very hefty amount as they also have to pay tuition fee as well, while the administration seems to be ignorant about this grave issue.

Meanwhile, the students appealed to LG administration and deputy commissioner Srinagar to look into the matter at the earliest. (KNS)
