Hindi Diwas Desh Bhakti Kavyapath Pratiyogita at CLUJ

Jammu September 27:(KNS) Department of Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu organised a virtual Desh Bhakti Kavyapath Pratiyogita to commemorate Hindi Diwas as part of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav under the patronage of Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, CLUJ.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Hindi Diwas is celebrated every year on 14th September to remember and honour the adoption of Hindi language, written in the Devanagari script, as one of the official languages of the country earlier in 1949. It is pertinent to mention that efforts were made by several writers, poets, and activists for adoption of Hindi as the official language. Some of them are Beohar Rajendra Simha, Maithili Sharan Gupta, Kaka Kalelkar , Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, and Seth Govind Das.

 

Moreover, Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Union on Beohar Rajendra Simha’s birthday, ie 14th September. Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, CLUJ welcomed the dignitaries and advocated the importance and promotion of Hindi as it is our Mother Language which ornaments the pluralistic ethos of our country and is also known as language of Unity .

 

 Madhvi Sharma, an illuminous Senior broadcaster, All India Radio Jammu, Professional Shiromani was the Guest of honor at the event. She emphasized that we should be proud of our national language and should learn to speak in the public domain without any hesitation. She exhorted that Hindi is one of the oldest and most influential languages in the world and we should take pride in speaking our mother tongue. She emphasized that a country which does not take pride in its language and literature cannot progress and added that students should be oriented about the importance of Hindi Language and how celebrating the day helps in sustaining traditional values and glorifying them to reinforce the language’s importance. The event was adjudged by Smt.Madhvi Sharma, Dr. Renu Nanda, former HOD Hindi , Govt. MAM College, and Dr. Bindu Chib, HOD Hindi, GDC Poonch. The Jury urged the students to make optimum use of hindi language to enhance their oratory skills and encouraged in depth reading of manuscripts of renowned Hindi writers to expand their knowledge horizons.

 

About 26 participants from constituent colleges and PGI schools participated in the event.The webinar was attended by Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar,Deans of faculties , Dean Students Welfare, Principals of constituent colleges and Associate and Assistant Deans. Deepika Charak, GCW Gandhi Nagar secured the Ist prize, Mr. Ritvik Laira, School of Sciences bagged the 2nd prize and Ms. Pallavi Gupta, GCW Gandhi Nagar clinched the 3rd prize. Ms. Mrinali Pathania , GCW Gandhi Nagar and Mr. Sandeep Kumar, MAM College bagged the consolation prizes. The programme was anchored by Dr. Revika Arora, Cultural Coordinator, CLUJ and formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Javed Iqbal, Assistant Dean, Students Welfare, CLUJ. (KNS)
