Bandipora, Dec 30 (KNS): The Border Roads Organisation has inducted hi-tech snow clearance and cutting machines to clear snow on 84-km Bandipora-Gurez road this winter.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that these machines can clear snow upto one kilometre in just 3 hours. 

He said that Kodiak machine, purchased from USA, helps to clear one kilometre of deep snow in just three hours thus giving a boost for timely clearance of snow from the road.l and these machines have been put to use at Tragbal on Bandipora-Gurez road.

He said that with tremendous speed, these new machines can operate at an altitude of even 18500 ft and above and have the capability of clearing 5000 tons of snow per hour.

The official said that these machines can clear approximately 1.5 meter high and 300 meter long accumulated snow in just an hour. 

Notably, Bandipora-Gurez road remains closed during winter months due to heavy accumulation of snow along the route. (KNS)
