Heroin Worth Crores Recovered As Drug Peddler Apprehended In Uri

Uri, Nov 20(KNS): Security forces on Sunday said that it arrested a drug peddler and recovered four packets of heroin worth crores from his him in Hathlanga area of Uri in northern Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday.


In a statement, the police said that routine joint naka of Police Uri and 3 Rajput unit of army was established at AD Post. "During the routine checking, one drug peddler identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Bhat son of Mohammad Afzal Bhat resident of Sahoora Uri who on seeing the naka party tried to evade arrest was apprehended and four packets of suspected contraband was recovered," it added.

"Police under the supervision of SDPO Uri Sh. Junaid Wali-JKPS assisted by Inspr Imtiyaz Ahmad, SHO PS Uri arrested and recovered contraband Heroin like substance valued worth  crores in black market from his possession," it said.

The police said that the case under NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation set in motion.

"General People of Uri sub Division vision  have once again hailed the efforts of Police and Army 3 Rajput and vouched to be always ready  to support police to eradicate menace of Drugs from the society which is the real sign of Police Public relationship," it said 

"People are requested to come forward with information regarding Drug Peddlers of their areas so that drug menace can be eradicated from the society," the police added.(KNS)
