Yatra Temporary Suspended, Schools Shut In Ramban

Srinagar, July 28 (KNS): Heavy rains lashed several parts of the Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday while the Meteorological Department predicted more precipitation in the day. 


An official at Meteorological Department srinagar said that widespread light to moderate rain in Jammu and Kashmir. "Cloudy with light rain at some places on Baltal-Holycave, Phalgam-Holycave," he said. 

He futher said that light to moderate rain may continue over many places of J&K including Phalgam-Holycave, Baltal-HolyCave axis. The official also suggest the authorities to suspend yatra from Baltal-HolyCave, Phalgam-Holycave till weather improves further. 

"Rainfall on upper reaches may led to Flash Flood, Mudslide, Landslide at vulnerable places. People should  remain cautious & prepared as these events often occurs  suddenly,"  he said. 

Meanwhile, Jammu -Srinagar NHW (NH-44) blocked at Panthyal and Mehad Ramban due to shooting stones. "People are advised not to travel on Jammu -Srinagar NHW without confirmation from TCU Jammu/Srinagar/Ramban," the official said. 

He futher said that srinagar-Leh highway has also been blocked due to flash floods at Shah Mohalla Kullan Gund in Ganderbal district.

"In view of heavy rains across District Ramban, all Government & Private schools shall remain closed today. Students are advised to stay home and remain safe," says DC Ramban. 

Amarnath Yatra was suspended on both routes  due to bad weather as rains lashed the Kashmir Valley, officials said, adding that the yatra will resume after the weather improves(KNS).
