Says will meet victims’ families after he visits J&K again

Jammu, Jan 13 (KNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the government of India has handed over the investigation of Rajouri attack to National Investigation Agency.


Addressing a press conference after chairing a high-level meeting in Jammu today, Shah, as per Kashmir News Service (KNS) said NIA and Jammu police will together investigate the matter.

He also said he will definitely meet the families of those who were killed in the attack when he visits Jammu and Kashmir next time.

On reply to a query, Shah said government had already decided to empower Village Defence Committees and it was not done only after the attack took police in Dhangri village. 

Earlier, after landing in Jammu, Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting at Raj Bhawan with top officials of civil and security establishment.

An official said LG Manoj, senior police and civil officials and heads of all security and intelligence agencies attended the meeting. 

Shah was scheduled to visit Rajouri to meet the families of those killed in the militant attack on January 01, however, due to bad weather his chopper was not given clearance for onward journey by Air Traffic Control (ATC).

The official said Shah also spoke to the families of victims killed in the attack over phone and assured all possible help to them.
