Handwara, June 19 (KNS): Residents of Haril village of Handwara in North Kashmir on Friday have expressed strong resentment over callous attitude of public health engineering (PHE) department, as they failed to provide the portable drinking water to area.
According to locals, speaking to KNS said that, “a water tank was constructed 4 years ago and has yet to made functional by the department leaving large number of people in the area to suffer and are being forced to fetch the water from the nearby streams.
Reports also said that a dispute has been also erupted between the two mohallas over the drinking water as they were without dirking water.
The residents said that they have visited the concern office several times but the concern departed fell their pleas deaf ear
However, when contacted to official of the concern department he said that the water pipes has been issued to the village and the problem has been sorted out but the locals of the area have contested the claim of the concern officials and said that they have bought the water pipes by their own (KNS)
