02 Kgs of Heroine like substance recovered from their possession

Handwara January 25:(KNS) In its continuous efforts and war against menace of drugs, Handwara Police yesterday arrested two drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralgund.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), reads, In view of forthcoming Republic Day, a police party of Police Station Kralgund and PC Kralgund established a naka at *Wangam crossing* on Baramulla-Handwara highway and started searching of vehicles and pedestrians. During naka checking the police party signaled a Vehicle bearing registration No. *DL9CJ/2559* to stop for checking, but the persons boarded in the said vehicle tried to flee from the spot. The naka party tactfully stopped the vehicle and apprehended the duo who on preliminary questioning disclosed their identity as, Mohd Yousuf Bhat, S/O AB Jabar Bhat, R/o Rohama Rafiabad and, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, S/o Gh Mohi-U-Din Bhat, R/o Badan Rafiabad.

 During their search 02 Kgs of Heroine like substance were recovered.

Accordingly *Case FIR No 04/2022 U/s 8/21, 29 NDPS* stands registerd in Police Station Kralgund against the accused persons and both the accused have been taken to Police Station Kralgund for further investigation. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized in the instant case.

The duo are said to be involved in drug trade in Baramulla, Sopore and Handwara areas. Investigation of the instant case is going on to find out their further associates and supporters in the area.

The war against drug menace will continue to make the society drug free. 

People in general have hailed the efforts of Handwara police in curbing the menace of drugs. Handwara police appeals the general public of the area to share all information about the social evils so that timely action can be taken againt the culprits. (KNS)
