Handwara police arrests four drug Peddlers, Narcotics Seized

Handwara, Feb 04 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday said that it arrested four drug Peddlers in Qalamabad area of Handwara in northern Kashmir's Kupwara district.


"Continuing its efforts against drug peddling, Handwara Police arrested four peddlers and recovered narcotics in Qalamabad area," the police said, adding that on 04 February 2023, a police party of Police Station Qalamabad while on naka duty at Batagund crossing, stopped a vehicle (Van) bearing registration No. JK09-9492 for checking.

"On search, around 720 gms of Charas like substance and cash amount of rupees 45000/- were recovered from possession of four persons aboard the vehicle," it said.

The persons as per police have been identified as Amir Bashir Shah S/o Bashir Ahmad Shah R/o wadipora Chalpora, Umer Ashraf Bhat S/o Mohd Ashraf Bhat R/o Batakote, Azad Ahmad Mir S/o Mohd Sultan Mir R/o Rajpora Zachaldara and Rayees Ahmad Sheikh S/o Mohd Ramzan Sheikh R/o Batakote Handwara.

"Based on this, FIR No. 06/2023 U/S 8/20, 29 NDPS Act registered at PS Qalamabad and investigation has been initiated. The accused have been arrested and the vehicle involved in the offence has also been seized," the police added.(KNS)
