Had gone to meet PM as representative of woman empowerment from J&K, says Flag Woman of Kupwara

Kupwara, Dec 16 (KNS): The Flag Woman of Kupwara, Jameela Begum who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 15 in New Delhi said she had gone to meet him as a representative of woman empowerment from the Valley. 

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Jameela said she had gone to meet PM Modi with the message woman empowerment and as a representative from the Valley.

She said PM Modi also appreciated her work and contribution towards the society and encouraged her for thsi work. 

Jameela said she was immensely thankful to PM Mod for listening to her views and acknowledging her work.

"PM Modi is much concerned about the people of J&K. He also showed interest in art, culture and embroidery,” she said. 

She also said her commitment and dedication towards empowerment of women will further motivate other women folk in the area to make a niche for themselves in their respective walks of life.

Hailing from from Kunan Poshpora village Kupwara, Jameela took part in Har Ghar Tiranga initiative and made hundreds of flags with the help of local girls. 

"During the initiative I stitched near about 1000 flags. In this mission I also sought help of 250 local women to take this goal to its end,“ she said. (KNS)
