Srinagar, Jan 20 (KNS): The authorities on Thursday ordered complete restriction on non-essential movement from every Friday afternoon till Monday morning in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases.

According to an order issued by State Executive Committee (SEC), a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), there will be complete restriction on non-essential movement in the entire UT from every Friday 2 pm to Monday 6 am.

It also stated that Pregnant Women Employees will be exempted from physical attendance and they shall be allowed to work from home.

The decision was taken during task force meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, J&K (Chairman State Executive Committee) along with the ACS (Finance), ACS (Health and Medical Education), Principal Secretary to the Government PWD (R&B) & other Senior Health functionaries on Thursday.

The order stated that decision was taken in view of increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the entire J&K and the presence of variant of concern Omicron.

Notably, amid rise in Covid-19 cases, the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir last week ordered for the imposition of weekend lockdown across the Union Territory. (KNS)
