Srinagar, Sept 29 (KNS): Jammu & Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) senior leader and former minister Javaid Mustafa Mir on Tuesday claimed to have support of maximum number of executive members of the party who have accepted me as President.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mir who was addressing a press conference in Srinagar claimed that he has maximum numbers of the party who accepted him as party president.

“I have support of maximum members of the JKPMs executive committee and they accepted me as a president”, Mir said.

Lifting curtains over the indifferences within the party after its founding president and former bureaucrat disassociated himself from active politics and resigned from the party president-ship, JKPM leader Javaid Mir said that after resignation of Dr Shah Faesal, party witnessed rift over chair of President-ship.

“I am enjoying majority support within the party for the chair of president-ship, while others who contested and projecting outside as president of the party is not true.

“Those claiming president other than me are self-styled and their roots weak within the party”, Mir asserted.

Without naming his opponent, JKPM leader said that I wonder how he is claiming that I am the party president.

“How come a person be president of the party who doesn’t enjoy the support of executive body”, he added.

Mir stated that I tried to douse the rift within the party and offered chairmanship to the person who claims president ship of the party.

“I offered him the chairmanship, I don’t know what is the dispute left?”, he said.

“I had tendered my resignation from the party earlier but later on party members approached me for withdrawal of the decision. I accepted their will for the larger benefit of the party”, Mir said.

He also said that I have served my entire life in politics so I have no lust of chair and publicity but as far as present political scenario is concerned I will lead the party for the interests of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

While answering series of questions, JKPM leader said I am with Gupkar Declaration which is meant for restoration of lost special status of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
