Srinagar, Sep 24 (KNS): Senior CPI(M) leader, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami urged the centre to fulfill the genuine demands of ASHA workers including paying minimum wages, releasing pending Honorarium and covering them under incentive scheme of J&K.

Tarigami assured full support to one day strike of ASHA workers and facilitators here in Jammu.

Talking to media persons on sidelines of protest here in Jammu, Tarigami said that ASHA workers are the backbone of health system and specially in the times of COVID19, these workers have been serving  the people tirelessly.

It is the responsibility of the government to fulfill the demands of ASHA workers, scheme workers and also mid day meal workers, he added.

Tarigami also said that many ASHA workers and frontline workers have succumbed to COVID19 during the second wave, but unfortunately these workers have been working on least incentives.

The senior CPI (M) leader also talked about the establishment of reliance company in Jammu, due to which small shopkeepers and street vendors will be facing difficult times.

He urged the centre to provide a life insurance to all the ASHA workers who work 24 hours a day during the COVID19 emergency.

These are the most vulnerable section of health workers amid the pandemic so they should be given a full life insurance and a job security, he added. (KNS)
