Fruit Industry J&K at the verge of collapse: JKPM

Srinagar, Jan 10 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement Adl. General Secretary and Media Incharge Javid Ahmad Khan on Monday said that fruit industry of Jammu and Kashmir is at the verge of collapse due to negligence of Centre and LG Administration. 

In a statement issued to KNS, Javid Ahmad said that government of India are importing Irani Apples via Afghanistan border which are exempted from custom duty and taxes and Irani apples have grabbed the Apple market across India because of aggressive approach towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "Centre government is taking revenge with the people of Jammu and Kashmir as they are hellbent to weak us economically for their vested and political interests," he said. 

Javid Ahmad further said that 70% of population are dependent on the fruit industry of Jammu and Kashmir directly or indirectly and Centre government are pushing 70% population of business and labour class to the wall as the fruit growers as well as forwarding agents are already debited by crores of rupees to by various banks to run their businesses. 

"Near about three crore boxes of A grade apples are still lying in cold Storage's here in Jammu and Kashmir because of negligence of Centre and local administration, Kashmiri fruits whether it is dry or wet are famous arround the globe and Centre government are trying it's best to downgrade the fruit industry of J&K," he said. 

Javid Ahmad urged Centre and LG administration to look into the matter at an earliest other wise fruit industry of Jammu and Kashmir will collapse and Centre as well LG administration will be responsible for losses of thousands of crores as well as destruction of fruit industry of Jammu and Kashmir.
