Officials say residents facing inconvenience due to activation of Nusoo grid station

Bandipora, July 18(KNS): While temperatures continue to soar, the residents of Nibripora (Ward number 6) and adjoining areas in North Kashmir's Bandipora town district have to face the additional burden of unscheduled power cuts, residents complained on Sunday.

The locals of the area told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that for the past several weeks the power development department (PDD) has resorted to unnecessary cuts due to which people are facing hardships. "We did not face such power cuts over the last 10 years, which we are facing these days even during hot weather conditions," they said.

They said that the concerned department has not been able to restore the power supply to the area even though they have been apprised several times.

They said several complainants were lodged with the concerned department, however, it did not yield any results as the concerned has not paid any heed to their genuine grievance.

“We are being deprived of our basic right even after paying over Rs 1400 as monthly electricity bill,” Sahil a local said, adding that the administration should think about the fact that despite the high temperature, they do not provide electricity to the people as per schedule.

He said that the frequent power cuts have also badly affected the business fraternity and students' community of the affected areas for the past several weeks.

A senior PDD official said that there has been a slight reduction in electricity since yesterday as they were activating Nusoo grid station, and the area had to face the inconvenience.

He, however, said that he will still look into the matter. (KNS)
