Free medical care by police in Handwara draws applause, 8 camps render medical assistance to 4 thousand people

Handwara March 16 (KNS): At least four thousand of people from the several areas of Handwara flock to the series of free medical care camps conducted by Handwara police in assistance with district hospital Handwara across eight different locations. 


The Jammu Kashmir Police as it embarks under the aegis of Civic Action Programme 2023 to extend free medical care, rendered free medical consultation camps at around eight locations in Handwara division, where doctors from different specialties offered consultation to around four thousand people. 

During these camps scores of villagers including women, men children were screened for different health ailments, also free medicine were distributed among patients. 

A resident of Chogal Handwara, Mohammad Sultan said that the free medical care has always dreamt of the underprivileged population of his area, but the recent initiative of free medical consultation camps by Handwara police has provided opportunity to hundreds of people in my village to avail the free medical services. 

"We are thankful of Handwara police and doctors of district hospital Handwara for taking it to our village to attend poor patents, we are hopefully similar initiatives would be taken in future," he said. 

Another elderly woman of Tulwari Langate Fata Begum, said that there is no one in her family to bear the expenses of her medicine. "I am happy to receive free medical consultation and free medicine. I pay my gratitude to the government for conducting free medical camps," she said.

"We are looking forward to having more poor people friendly initiatives, so that people like us too would get the opportunity to avail the service," she added. 

The police said that the main aim of the medical camp was to provide access to medical check-ups and to generate awareness about medical treatment for drug addiction.

 The visiting patients also availed the free medical checkup services being rendered by the team of doctors. 

The attending persons were briefed about drug addiction - its harmful effects on health of addicts and ways to treat addiction. 

However it is the responsibility of every individual, the community and all social and religious organisations to generate awareness about this major health hazard and its adverse impact on society, the police said. (KNS)
