An official from Food safety department told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that the Court of City Munsif Srinagar imposed a fine of Rs.4400/= on  four shopkeepers for violating section 7 of Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003.

 

He said that these complaints were submitted before the competent court by Food Safety Officers of District Srinagar against violators for selling cigarette packs without having pictorial warnings on 85% of principal display panel.

 

 He directed Shopkeepers not to sell cigarettes within the radius of 100 yards of an education institution, in loose form and to minors below the age of 18 years. 

 

Further they are directed not to sell any pack of cigarettes without having mandatory pictorial warning and other labeling requirements under Cigarette and other tobacco products Act 2003, he added.(KNS)
