Forest Deptt seizes illicit timber alongwith vehicle in Langate

Langate, Jan 02 (KNS): Forest Department Langate on Saturday seized a Tata mobile bearing Registration number JK09 6233 carrying illicit timber seized at Khuro Langate in North Kashmir Kupwara district.

According to KNS, Divisional Forest Officer Langate Abdul Hamid Malla said that forest department seized a Tata mobile at Khuro which was ferrying huge quantity of illicit timber for a joinery mill in out side range.

“Acting on specific inputs at Range Officer Mawar Mohammad Shafi Malla said that a nakka was laid at Khuro Langate by the forest officials team led by BO Headquarter Naseer Ahmad. A the occasion a Tata Mobile vide registratiom number JK09 6233 was intercepted and during checking illicit timber Deodar 11 No's measuring 22.16 cft was recovered", he said and added the vehicle was also seized.

A case under relevant sections of law was lodged in Police Station Langate, besides special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted for its detailed investigation as how the smugglers managed to smuggle timber from the spot.

Divisional Forest officer Langate Abdul Hamid Malla further said that such operations will continue in future as well and not even a single smuggler will be spared. (KNS)
