Forest Department, Baramulla in collaboration with GDC , Baramulla organizes ‘Conifer Plantation Drive’

December 02, 2020(KNS). Forest Department, Baramulla in collaboration with Department of Botany, IQAC, and NSS units of Government Degree College, Baramulla organized ‘Conifer Plantation Drive’ on December 02, 2020.
Mr. Arshad Lala, DFO, Baramulla, , Manu Mangutra, Commandant, BSF, Prof. Syed Rehmat Shah, Acting Principal, GDC Baramulla, Prof. A. R. Malik, Head, Department of Botany, along with other faculty members of the department, NSS Program Officers, Prof. Arhsid Ahmad Yatoo, Dr. Kaiser Ahmad, and Dr. Syed Masarat Geelani, NSS volunteers, and other teaching and non-teaching members participated in the drive. This day is observed to awake people and to educate them about the importance of trees and plants in our lives. The day is celebrated worldwide wherein different organizations and institutions arrange different plantation awareness programmes.
Mr. Arshad Lala, chief guest, initiated the drive by panting a sapling in the lawns of the newly constructed eight-room building in the premises of GDC, Baramulla. Addressing the gathering, Prof. A R. Malik in his benign and mesmerising attire thanked the Forest Department officials of Baramulla for their cooperation in the plantation drive and threw light on the importance of planting more trees and plants. He encouraged students to plant more trees and take care of their plantations thereafter. He said that every day should be treated as plantation day and plants should be grown to keep the environment green, clean, safe and healthy.
On this occasion, Prof. Syed Rehmat Shah, Acting Principal of the College, stressed that college students must be connected with sapling plantation and awareness programmes, which are key factors to encourage citizens to protect environment by planting trees(KNS).
