Five Days Training Programme on Disaster Management commences in GDC Samba

Srinagar May 22 (KNS):  NSS, NCC units and Department of Sports, GDC Samba in collaboration with Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Samba, is organizing a five days training programme on Disaster Management.

Dr. Twinkle Suri, Principal of the College, was the Chief guest of the occasion. Ms Naseem Akhtar, DSP, Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Samba, was the Guest of Honour of the event. Mr. Aman Singh, an instructor in Disaster Management, was the resource person. The event was also attended by around 120 students of the college. 


The proceedings of the event began ceremoniously with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by a devotional song which enthralled the audience. During her Inaugural address, Dr. Twinkle Suri, Principal of the Institute, sensitized the students about the essence of the disaster management. She also encouraged the students to learn about techniques, mode and equipment used in managing any natural or man-made disaster. She further emphasized that such type of workshop is important keeping 
in view the geographical terrain of Jammu and Kashmir that stands to be the earth

quake prone zone, so as the students will be prepared with the preventive measures to
tackle any kind of emergency.
Mr, Aman Singh, the Resource Person of the event, spoke on the human, material,
economic or environmental impacts of disasters and how the training of disaster
management helps to plan, organize, coordinate and implement various measures
regarding that. Some students, NSS and NCC volunteers from the college also shared
their point of view on the occasion.

The workshop was also graced by the presence of Dr. Joginder Singh, Dr. Rajni Sharma,
Mr Sanjeev Jamwal and NSS volunteers. The event concluded with Dr Geeta Lakhotra, NSS, PO, delivering a formal vote of thanks to all the participants and guests.(KNS)
