Srinagar, Dec 20 (KNS): The government of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday ordered the placing of services of final year students of polytechnic colleges and ITIs enrolled in electric trade at the disposal of concerned deputy commissioners to assist PDD for restoration and maintenance of smooth power supplies to consumers in view of the strike of employees of PDD in Jammu and Kashmir. 

According to an order, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), in overall public interest, to assist Power Development Department for restoration and maintenance of smooth power supplies to consumers in JKUT, in view of sudden disruption in services leading to acute shortage of manpower due to recent strike of employees of Power Development Department and to assist PDD to maintain essential services, the services of final year students enrolled in Electric trade in Government Polytechnics and ITIs are placed at the disposal of concerned Deputy Commissioners along with HODs, Lecturers, Demonstrators, Faculty (Electrical) for further deployment with PDD with immediate effect.

The order stated that Deputy Commissioners may deploy such students in consultation with concerned PDD Engineers to work under close supervision of their faculty, teachers, District, Sub-division, Tehsil, Block level Magistrates, other Officers, as deemed appropriate by them.

“However, Deputy Commissioners, Principals and Superintendents of Polytechnics and ITIs shall ensure safety and security of all students deployed for such duties and provide them adequate accommodation, transport and other incentives as deemed appropriate, and ensure their safety during their deployment preferably with the vicinity of the Polytechnics, ITIs and Native place of such students, under close vigil of concerned officers and strict supervision of concerned Magistrates and Senior Engineers of PDD as is feasible in the nearest filed offices, electric maintenance, stations and workshops etc,” reads the order.

It also stated that such deployments with PDD as assigned to them depending on their capabilities and suitability shall not entitle the students to any preferential claim for considering in Government service in future.  

“However, such deployment may be counted as field experience for these students to be certified by concerned Principals and Superintendents in due course, after the present crisis is over.” 

The order stated that all concerned Principals, Superintendents, Faculty of Polytechnics and ITls shall maintain close liaison with Deputy Commissioners and other designated authorities with their district.

“All concerned Principal, Superintendents, faculty of Polytechnics and ITIs shall provide the list of students and faculty, instructors along-with their contact numbers to Deputy Commissioner(s) concerned, and submit compliance report to the Administrative Department by December 21st.” 

It further stated that all concerned Principals, Superintendents, Faculty of Polytechnics and ITIs shall submit daily reports by 4 pm everyday through Director Skill Development to Administrative Department. (KNS)
